This marten repeller unit produces
intensively pulsating ultrasonic sound – which is unbearable for martens
and similar rodents – therefore it is able to scare away these animals.
The set includes 4 small ultrasonic loudspeakers to archieve the best
radiation of the ultrasound. The frequency is adjustable, the operating
status is indicated by a LED.
Usage: This
marten repeller is able to scare away martens from the engine compartments of
cars and lorries, just place the speakers where the animals usually gnaw
the cables and other plastic parts! Or place it in pantries, cellar or
attic in such a way, that speakers can spread the ultrasound for the
possible biggest area.
Technical datas:
Mounting instruction and
operation:
The ultrasonic marten
repeller unit has to be
connected according to the enclosed mounting diagram. (The device
requires a fuse, approx. 0,2A. The fuse is not included!)
It
can be operated with voltages from 12-15V direct current voltage (car or
lorry battery). It is possible to operate the module with a commercial
plug-in power supply =12V (current supply at 12V =< 50mA).
1-4 piezo loudspeakers can be
connected. The cables leading to the loudspeakers could be up to 50
meters. (The cables are not included!) Considering that ultrasonic
sounds show a direct radiation, it is necessary to mount the enclosed
speakers to different places (in order to avoid sound „shadows”). The
loudspeakers and the central unit should be mounted weatherproof (never
expose them to direct humidity). When starting operation of the unit the
integrated light emitting diode flashes. With the aid of a small
screwdriver the frequency can be adjusted. If the adjustment control is
in position 1, there will be heard a high sound. Adjusting the control
towards the right side, the sound become even higher and, at least,
unhearable (ultrasound).
In the
following we would like to state experimantal values indicating which
frequencies may be used with different animals in order to archieve best
results:
Birds: approx. 10 kHz,
position 1-2
Rodents: approx. 24-32 kHz,
position 8-9
Insects: approx. 27-35 kHz,
position 9-10
Martens: positions 3-4-5-6-7
Note! In most
of the cars the binder „15” is returned automatically from positive to
earth when switching off the motor. If this is the case with your car,
then do not connect the negative pole wire of the marten repeller to
earth, but to binder „15”. So the marten repeller will be switched on
automatically, when parking the car.
Advice: With
this module it is solely possible to connect piezo loudspeakers, never
connect dynamic treble loudspeakers!
Ultrasonic sounds signify for
animals solely a considerable molestation, but don’t harm them in any
way physically. The fear and warning cry of animals is made within the
ultrasonic range and have therefore a repelling effect. However there
are animals which get accustomed to these sounds (above all during the
periods of winter where the living conditions in open country are
especially dangerous to life). Therefore it may occur, that despite of
the ultrasonic sounds wild animals don’t feel disturbed. In such cases
turn the adjustment control to position 3 or 4.
Attention! If
the marten was already in your car and has placed its „scent marks”,
washing of the motor is absolutely necessary. Also the road surface
under the car should be cleaned with cleaning agents in order to remove
scent marks.
Safety instructions:
Please read carefully these
safety instructions before
connecting the marten repeller module!
KEMO modules are manufactured
according to DIN EN 60065 and comply with the safety requirements with
regard to manufacture. All safety elements required for the final
assembly are listed in the mounting instructions and must not be omitted
for safety regulations. The assembly and starting may only be carried
out by authorised persons who can also be held responsible for possible
damage.
The mounting instructions
supplied by the manufacturer for completion of the appliances are to be
observed. All safety facilities are to be installed for permanent
operation and must not be ignored for personal safety. The same applies
to the operating instructions mentioned in the manufacturer’s
instructions.
This device is not intended
for persons under 14 years (it has no CE approval as a children’s toy).
Do not expose the module to
extreme temperature (more than 50 °C) and humidity. The regulations for
prevention of accidents for electrical installations and operating
material of the industrial employer’s liability insurance association
are to be observed in industrial facilities.
In schools, training centers
and „do-it-yourself” workshops, the operation of these modules is to be
supervised reliably by trainned personnel.
For all kits and modules
which come into contact with a voltage higher than 25V, the VDE-safety
instructions must be observed! The installation and initial operation
may only be done by an expert!
The most important safety
instructions are: protection against accidental contact for all metallic
parts, which can carry more than 25V current! The manufacturer and the
distributor refuse to accept responsibility for accidents and injuries
caused by this! Strain reliefs at all cables! In case of defect,
components or the module can burst! Therefore the module resp. The
printed circuit board have to installed in such a way that in this case
as well as in case of fire no damage occurs (installation into earthed
metallic cupboards or earthed metallic casings and superposing of safety
fuses).
Dangerous situations may occur during starting when making a mistake
(e.g. in case of short circuits, cables may glow or catch fire, if a car
battery is used as a power source without adding a safety device).
If the module is operated
with low voltage (<25V), this voltage must only be drawn from a battery,
an accumulator or from a stabilized power supply tested for safety.
Please do not use any power supplies with unstabilized output voltage as
these may supply a much higher output voltage in case of low current
load and thus the connected module or device may be destroyed. Example:
when running at no-load at an adjusted output voltage of 12V, a power
supply without stabilization may have a real output voltage of >18V and
thus may destroy the connected module/device.
When operating the unit with
batteries or lithium batteries, respectively, please note the following:
danger of explosion of batteries in case of improper exchange of
batteries (e.g. in case of improper polarization). Flat batteries must
be disposed of according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
If the module or device does
not work properly, accidents happened (liquid ran into the device,
device felt down etc.), or if it causes strange noises or smells, switch
it off immediately (interrupt the current supply such as e.g. pull out
the mains plug, switch off or the like). Ask an expert for examination.
Warning:
certain ultrasonic frequencies may cause headache to sensitive persons.
Please consider this during installation.
The manufacturer and the
distributor refuse to accept responsibility in case of any material
damage or personal injuries caused by non-compliance with the operating
instructions and these safety instructions.
Disposal:
If the marten repeller shall
be disposed of, it must not thrown into the
household waste. It must be disposed of at the collecting points
intended for disposal of television sets, computers etc. (please
ask your local authority or municipal authority for these collecting
points for electronic waste).
